Installing the V-DAQ TAG5

Before You Begin
Before installing the V-DAQ TAG5, ensure:
- You have the V-DAQ TAG5 device and supplied cables.
- The vehicle has a suitable power source available.
- The installation location provides a clear view through the windscreen.
- The vehicle ignition can be switched ON and OFF during setup.
- You have access to the V-DAQ Support Team if verification is unsuccessful.
Important Information
Before installation:
- Ensure the product manual and instructions are reviewed.
- Do not use the device if it appears damaged.
- Contact V-DAQ Support if you are unsure about any installation steps.
Step 1 – Attach TAG5 to the Windscreen
Remove the adhesive protective cover from the back of the TAG5 device.
Position the TAG5 on the windscreen in a suitable location where it does not obstruct the driver's view. If you use Bluetooth, place on the right
Step 2 – Connect the Power Cable
Connect the power cable to the TAG5 device.
Ensure the connection is secure before proceeding.
Step 3 – Connect to Vehicle Output
Connect the other end of the power cable to the vehicle output connection.
Ensure the cable is connected correctly and securely.
Do not force the connection.
Step 4 – Turn Vehicle Ignition ON
Switch the vehicle ignition ON.
Check the following:
- The Power LED is illuminated.
- The Output LED is illuminated.
- The TAG5 begins the startup sequence.
The TAG5 green LED should be solid.
Step 5 – Confirm TAG5 Startup Status
Once powered:
- The TAG5 green LED should remain solid during normal operation.
- If the LED sequence does not match the expected behaviour, contact V-DAQ Support.
Step 6 – Turn Vehicle Ignition OFF
Switch the vehicle ignition OFF.
Confirm:
- Power and output LEDs turn OFF.
- The TAG5 green LED changes to a flashing state.
Step 7 – Complete Vehicle Drive Test
Drive the vehicle for approximately 15 minutes.
This allows the TAG5 to complete the installation process and transmit required information.
Step 8 – Installation Verification
Once the drive test is complete, V-DAQ will verify the installation.
You will receive confirmation once the TAG5 installation has been successfully completed.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| TAG5 LEDs do not illuminate | Power connection issue | Check the power cable connections and confirm vehicle power is available |
| TAG5 green LED is not solid after ignition ON | Device startup issue | Turn ignition OFF, wait, then restart the vehicle. If the issue continues, contact V-DAQ Support |
| LED sequence does not match expected behaviour | Installation or connection issue | Confirm all connections are secure and contact V-DAQ Support if required |
| Installation verification not received | Vehicle has not completed required drive time | Complete a 15-minute drive and allow time for verification |
