How Do I Validate A Wireless OBM Installation?

Follow a structured validation process to confirm your Wireless OBM installation is operating correctly and ready for handover.

Installation validation is the final step before a Wireless OBM system is handed over for operational use.

Validation confirms that all components have been installed correctly, communication is functioning as expected, and users can successfully access weight information.

Completing a structured validation process helps identify issues early and ensures users have confidence in the system from their first day of operation.

Important: V-DAQ is not responsible for the installation of Right Weigh gauges or V-DAQ TAGs. Adhering to the recommended installation guidelines helps ensure optimal system performance, reliable connectivity, and fewer operational issues over the life of the installation.

Equipment Validation

Begin by confirming all hardware has been installed in accordance with approved installation guidelines.

Confirm:

  • Right Weigh gauges are installed correctly
  • V-DAQ TAG is installed correctly
  • Power configuration has been verified
  • Installation locations meet approved guidance
  • Equipment is free from visible damage

Any installation issues should be rectified before continuing with validation.

Connectivity Validation

Once installation has been verified, confirm communication between all system components.

Confirm:

  • Connections have been established
  • Right Weigh gauges can be detected
  • Live weights are visible
  • Trailer pairing is correct
  • Connectivity remains stable

Where possible, move around the vehicle and trailer combination to confirm communication remains reliable during normal operating conditions.

For longer combinations, such as A-Doubles, B-Doubles, B-Triples, and Road Trains, pay particular attention to connectivity performance across the entire combination.

User Validation

Before handover, confirm users understand the basic operation of the system.

Users should be able to:

  • Open the Wireless OBM App
  • Connect to the vehicle
  • Confirm trailer configurations
  • View live weights
  • Use Direct Connect Mode
  • Understand when to seek support

This step helps ensure a smooth transition from installation to daily operation.

A completed validation process helps ensure the Wireless OBM system is ready for reliable operation and provides users with confidence in the information they receive.

Identifying and resolving issues before handover helps improve user adoption, reduce support requests, and maximise the value of the Wireless OBM solution from day one.
