Getting Started for Drivers

Learn how to connect to Wireless OBM, verify vehicle configurations, monitor live weights, and make informed loading decisions.

Wireless OBM gives drivers access to real-time vehicle mass information directly from their mobile device. By providing visibility of vehicle, trailer, and combination weights, Wireless OBM helps drivers make informed loading decisions and verify vehicle weights before departure.

This guide will help you get started and establish a simple process for using Wireless OBM as part of your daily workflow.

Before You Begin

Before opening the Wireless OBM App, confirm:

  • The vehicle ignition is switched on
  • Right Weigh gauges have powered up
  • Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device
  • You have the latest version of the Wireless OBM App installed

These checks help ensure the application can successfully connect to the vehicle and display weight information.

Step 1: Open The Wireless OBM App

  1. Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
  2. Open the Wireless OBM App.
  3. Allow the app to access Bluetooth if prompted.

The app will automatically search for and connect to your vehicle.

Once connected, the vehicle and trailer combination will appear on screen and live weight information will become available.

If the vehicle does not appear, move closer to the vehicle and confirm the ignition is on before trying again.

Tip: If you cannot connect to a gauge, check whether it is already connected to another phone or tablet. Right Weigh Bluetooth gauges only support one active Bluetooth connection at a time.

Step 2: Confirm Trailer Configuration

Before loading or departing, verify that the trailer configuration shown in the app matches the physical combination attached to the vehicle. Accurate trailer pairing is essential for reliable weight visibility and reporting.  Confirm:

  • The correct trailers are displayed
  • The trailer order is correct
  • The combination configuration matches the vehicle

Step 3: Select A Connection Method

Wireless OBM supports two operating modes.

Standard Mode

Standard Mode is used during normal operation and supports:

  • Live weight visibility
  • Fleet reporting
  • Smart OBM data collection
  • Operational monitoring

Direct Connect Mode

Direct Connect Mode allows you to connect directly to approved Right Weigh Bluetooth gauges.

This mode is ideal when:

  • Loading freight
  • Working around the vehicle
  • Monitoring weights away from the cab
  • Making loading adjustments

Direct Connect Mode provides greater flexibility during loading activities by allowing you to view weight information wherever you are working.

Step 4: Monitor View Live Weights

Once connected, the app displays available weight information. Weight information updates automatically as loading conditions change. This includes:

  • Axle group weights
  • Trailer weights
  • Gross vehicle weights
  • Gross combination weights

Step 5: Confirm Final Weights

Before leaving site:

  • Review live weight information
  • Confirm loading objectives have been achieved
  • Check weight distribution
  • Verify combination configuration
Performing these final checks helps improve loading confidence and reduces the likelihood of issues later in the journey.

Need Help?

If weight information is not visible, connectivity appears unstable, or trailer configurations are incorrect, contact your fleet manager for assistance before commencing travel.

The most effective drivers incorporate Wireless OBM into their normal loading routine.

By following a consistent process—connect, verify, monitor, and confirm—you can improve loading accuracy, increase confidence before departure, and make better use of real-time weight information throughout the day.
