Compare reports across two periods
Add a comparison period to see how fleet metrics change between two date ranges.
Some reports support comparing results between two periods. This is useful for understanding how fleet performance, driver safety, and risk change over time.
Adding a comparison period
- On the Report Builder page, click the comparison icon to the right of the Select Vehicles field.
- Select the period you want to compare against.
Understanding comparison results
Report values are shown for the main report period. Change indicators show how those values differ from the comparison period. For example, to compare last week against the week before, set the main report period to last week and the comparison period to the prior week.
Value changes
Metrics measured in absolute units, such as kilometres or hours, show the change as a value with its unit, for example +35 km or -2.5 hours. Hover over the value to see the change expressed as a whole percentage, for example +7%.
Percentage changes
Metrics that are themselves percentages, such as % time moving or % idle, show the change in two ways:
- Point-percent change (default): the absolute difference in percentage points. For example, a change from 4% to 2% is shown as -2%pt.
- Whole-percent change (on hover): the relative change between the two values. The same change from 4% to 2% is shown as -50%.
Note: For the clearest results, compare two periods of the same duration. Comparing different-length periods is sometimes necessary, for example, comparing a 30-day month against a 31-day month.
Note: The comparison feature is only available on supported report types. If a report does not support comparisons, the comparison icon will not appear on the Report Builder page.
